As well as attending the Cycling and Walking Innovations Conference this week, we also exhibited over 2 days at the Highways UK Conference in Birmingham last week, thanks to Innovate UK.
Excitingly, this was our first time attending Highways UK. The conference was launched in 2015 at the start of the Government’s first five-year road investment strategy (RIS), and brings together the people responsible for planning, developing, managing, maintaining, and future-proofing the nation’s roads networks.
We're also exhibiting at #HighwaysUK 2022 over the next two days 🚦
Make sure to pay our Head of Projects @Beccy_6 a visit at the See.Sense stand to learn about our work to improve conditions for cycling and micro-mobility!
The exhibition was an impressive array of road construction products and services, highways consultants, engineers and digital providers. As you can expect there was lots of buzz talk around electric vehicle infrastructure and carbon reduction but also lots of suppliers of digital solutions. The industry is looking to tech to support highways with such things as AI cameras, radar and digital twin projects, using data to drive efficiencies.
Whilst the presence of cycling was small, it was encouraging to see companies like us breaking into the discussion. It was great to chat to the team from Dock Lock Charge, a universal solution for E-bikes and E-scooters on street charging, and to see companies actively promoting products for segregated cycle routes.
Hardscape Stand with a Beautiful Bike!
Speakers also included Cycling UK, Sustrans, Safe in the City and our partners at TfWM, covering topics on behaviour change, building infrastructure for sustainable travel and women’s safety.
It's especially great that more Active Travel organisations are being represented at events like this, that have historically been all about the movement of motor vehicles - Positive steps forward!
