We are pleased to announce that See.Sense has won the safety category of the Highways UK Intelligent Infrastructure Award 2018.
The awards, issued at Highways UK annual conference held in Birmingham, sought solutions from ‘novel and innovative intelligent infrastructure products or systems where the primary benefit is improving the safety of road users on any part of the UK road network’.
Our winning proposal emphasised the functionality of our light to collect data on road surface quality with our cost-efficient sensor network giving cities an accurate and real-time view of this information, without the high costs associated with infrastructure deployment. Cities can then use the insights generated to map road conditions, the flow of cyclists and potential collision areas, thereby allowing them to focus investment to where it is most needed to improve public safety.
All finalists were invited to deliver pitches in a ‘dragons den’ format during the conference with our CEO Philip McAleese delivering a succinct pitch before taking questions from the panel of judges including Iain Rillie (Highways England), Tony Scutt (Costain) and Raphael Ani (Wayra)
