Time flies when you are working hard and riding bikes, and 2019 has come and (almost) gone in the blink of an eye for both the See.Sense and British Cycling team members. It doesn’t seem all that long ago that our partnership as Official Bike Lights and Ride Insights Supplier was announced back in October 2018. We have both enjoyed some amazing growth and success over the past 12 months and shared some great memories with each other, our members and our customers.
We would like to start this piece off by saying a huge thank you to all British Cycling members and See.Sense customers. We are delighted to have made more cyclists across the UK more visible and you have all been part of our success story. We are indebted to everyone who has supported us on the partnership in any way.
Our partnership is gearing up for another massive year in 2020 - but before we look to the future, we thought we would revisit the year that was, so let’s get into the highlights…
Here at See.Sense, we want to help make a difference. We want to make you more visible when you’re riding but also make your ride experience visible to those designing the roads you ride on.
One major milestone in our year in partnership is definitely the launch of Ride Stats. This allows you to see unique stats about your rides in the See.Sense app as well as stay extra visible with our intelligent lights.
When you opt-in to share cycling insights in the See.Sense app, you’re helping us map your city in greater depth than ever before. Our lights detect where you swerve, slam on the brakes, and hit potholes; all things that negatively impact your experience. So, when you opt-in to share your ride insights, you’re improving the chances that your own future rides are improved, along with everyone else cycling in your city. Not to mention, the more you ride, the stronger the case is that your city needs to listen to the insights you provide and make smarter decisions. Find out how we work with cities and partners to help your area here.
In May we were proud to support the launch of the Let’s Change the Way We Move campaign, including British Cycling’s first-ever State of Cycling survey.
After working closely with colleagues at British Cycling on the development of the survey, we were pleased to offer 20 pairs of See.Sense ACE lights as prizes for lucky entrants – and subsequently over 15,000 members completed the survey. This made it the largest of its type ever conducted by British Cycling.
Finally, as part of the campaign launch activity our Co-Founder Irene McAleese was featured in British Cycling’s series of conversations with cycling ‘trailblazers’, talking about how data can be used to improve our roads and how the partnership is already benefiting people on bikes. British Cycling ran an amazing campaign to help get one MILLION more women riding their bikes in 2019, an ambitious but great initiative. Here at See.Sense we were proud to get involved in this with a competition (more about these later) and an article to help inspire more women to ride. You can read the full blog on the Let’s Ride website here.
From shorts and lightweight clothing in the summertime to extra layers and waterproofs in the winter (and probably in the summertime too), we’ve ridden through the seasons together in 2019. But the clock change in October is an ideal time to start thinking about lights and your visibility. We’re pleased to have helped show the difference that that one hour makes and to help make more people visible especially at these times.
Our competitions are always real! And we are delighted to have run multiple competitions with British Cycling to help keep more cyclists visible throughout 2019. Be sure to keep an eye out for more competitions in 2020.
Over the last year we also really enjoyed getting the members involved in our plans as we love to hear what you think. At the start of November, we asked you for your top motivational tips to keep riding throughout the winter months. And the responses were fantastic.
Thanks to everyone who gave us your tips, you can read the full blog here.
Our partnership is gearing up for another massive year in 2020. There are quite a lot of exciting developments planned for the next 12 months including new products and more. But what’s most important to us is that we share the same mission. And that’s a mission to get more people on their bikes more often and help change the way we move. So once again, thank you for your support in 2019 and we hope you can join us in 2020.
Remember, if you are a British Cycling member you can access 30% off all See.Sense lights.
