Are you a cyclist in Denver, Colorado (U.S.) We need your help! Denver is about to undergo a period of rapid expansion in the cycling network. It's an exciting time, and we have an opportunity for you to get involved in a cool and innovative cycling study.
Through a partnership between See.Sense, Downtown Denver Partnership, the City & County of Denver, and Gates Corporation, we are launching a year-long effort to learn more about how everyday cyclists are using the streets for recreation, commuting to work, and running daily errands. Data from the project will be shared with the city to gain a better understanding of the conditions faced by cyclists, so that improvements can be made to how projects are implemented. All data will be kept anonymous and individual users will not be identified.
We are seeking 300 volunteers to participate in the study. Interested?
This study will rely on the use of the award-winning See.Sense ACE bike lights and accompanying See.Sense application, to anonymously collect data on cyclist route choices, speed, delay, road surface quality, collisions, near miss and other self-reported events.
125 lumen LEDs in the rear & 150 lumen LEDs in the front keep you shining.
Each ACE light weighs just 35 grams and is water sealed to IP67 standard.
ACE automatically turns on when you move your bike and off after 3 minutes of inactivity.
A 2-hour charge gives you 10 hours of battery life when on reactive flash mode.
Each light comes with a standard seat post mount and an aero post mount, plus 5 mounting straps, making it easy to attach to any bike.
Use the See.Sense app to see your stats or pair ACE with a compatible Garmin device thanks to ACE’s ANT+ technology.
Important notice: The See.Sense PROJECT lights differ from the standard See.Sense retail lights in that opt-in to the app is prompted each time you charge your light, if your app is not connected. The prompt is in the form of brightness. Lights operate at 10% brightness after charging until connected to the app. Once the connection with the app has been made, full brightness is restored. This prompt will occur each time the light is charged, if the app is not on or on in the background.
2. COLLECT YOUR LIGHT
If chosen you will be given a location to retrieve your light.
3. CONNECT YOUR LIGHT TO THE SEE.SENSE APP TO SHARE RIDE INSIGHTS
It is requested that you connect your light to the See.Sense app and opt-in to share ride insights, entering your project code, so that The City & County Of Denver can use the ride insights gathered to share with The Department of Transportation & Infrastructure Planning.Ride insights are only collected while your light is on, your app is on in the background. You will be prompted to connect your light to the app each time you re-charge your light. All ride insights collected from the project are depersonalised before sharing. You can read the See.Sense terms and conditions and data privacy policies here.
You can find out more about this here.
Study participants keep their SeeSense ACE bike Lights and may continue to share ride insights under general See-Sense Privacy Statement and Terms and Conditions.
It depends on the phone, but for every hour of riding, the app will use about 1-2MB (about the same as uploading one photograph). If not riding, the data use is negligible.
It depends on the phone, but one hour of riding will use approximately 10% of phone’s battery. If not riding, the battery use if negligible.
