In light of recent news from SpaceX, we thought we would share the time we had our ICON light successfully launched into the stratosphere and then successfully land back on earth. Which we believe is the first commercial bike light to do so!

In 2017 our ICON light was launched into the stratosphere, where it reached an altitude of around 92,000ft.

This test was conducted using a specially adapted light to a rig with cameras and trackers, in order to see how the light performed in extreme environments.

You can see from the photos that the light continued to flash and as throughout its journey! It enables the lights to use auto on/off technology which turns on as the bike moves and turns off after three minutes of inactivity.

A very excited Liam Mewis, 13, was walking to school in Burton when he discovered the ICON attached to a parachute, lying on the ground. We were delighted when Liam contacted us via the address we left on the package and he was so excited to receive his very own ICON lights for his bike.
